WHAT IS PIANO DUET 4 HANDS?

▪︎ “4 Hands” – this term means a type of piano duet in which 2 players perform together, both using the same piano.

▪︎ Primo is the first pianist, who sits on the right side.

▪︎ The primo usually plays the melody. But it can also play harmony and accompaniment.

▪︎ Secondo is the second pianist, who sits on the left side.

▪︎ The secondo plays the bass and harmony. But it can also play the melody, w/c depends on the composition.

▪︎ The Secondo is also responsible for the pedalling.

▪︎ Primo and Secondo needs to be synchronized. The best piano duets are played in such a way that you feel and hear as if there is only 1 pianist playing.
